Financial Peace University. As a ministry to the McKinney area, St. Andrew's offers the thirteen week course, "Financial Peace University". Taught by best-selling author Dave Ramsey, Financial Peace University (FPU) is a practical, Biblically based course that helps families get back on track financially. The course starts with learning how to get on a workable budget and manage cash flow but covers all aspects of healthy finances. For information, log on to www.daveramsey.com/fpu.
Alpha. This class is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, friendly setting. The Alpha course usually meets once per week for 10 weeks, and includes a one-day or weekend getaway. Each session, people enjoy great food, laughter and learning in a fun and friendly atmosphere where no question about life or God is seen as too simple or too hostile…questions like—is there a God? Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where am I going? For information, log on to http://www.alphausa.org or email Father Mike at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Marriage Course. A series of eight sessions designed to help any married couple strengthen their relationship, this practical course will help equip you with the tools needed to build a healthy marriage that lasts a lifetime. Each week you are given the opportunity to enjoy a special meal together and listen to a talk. Then there is plenty of time to discuss the topic as a couple. There is no group work involved at any stage of the course. For more information, log on to www.themarriagecourse.org.
Dinner & Discipleship. Beginning Lent of 2012, everyone is welcome on Wednesday evenings for food, fellowship, discipleship, and worship. The evening will begin with a “Come when you can” dinner from 6:15, followed at 7pm by various formation classes for all ages. We will conclude with a brief Holy Eucharist from 8:00 to 8:30. Topics for classes will vary throughout the year, and new programs will be starting often, so feel free to jump in at any time.
KISS (Keep it Simple Suppers): KISS Groups consist of up to ten adults meeting once monthly for dinner and fellowship, generally in one another’s homes. After several months the groups are “shuffled” into new groups, with breaks taken during the months of July, August and December. This is a great way to get to know your fellow members better and to strengthen relationships. It is an outstanding way for our newer members to begin meeting other members of St. Andrew’s.
Small Groups: We have several small groups, including groups for families with young children, couples, and women. We have five Small Groups at St. Andrew’s, but there is always room for more! We have a blog, http://standrewssmallgroups.blogspot.com, where small group members can review the questions for the week before attending the group. Usually, small groups study the Scripture passage and sermon from the previous week. This is a wonderful way to get to know more people at church and to strengthen your faith. Men’s Group: A church’s foundation is made up of people who feel they belong to the church family. The purpose of the St. Andrew’s Men’s Group is to strengthen our foundation. In our monthly meetings, men are able to connect and establish a relationship with other men at St. Andrew’s. Our meeting formats are flexible and may involve study, discussion, prayer and fellowship. There are opportunities to share your spiritual journey or help someone along on theirs. Our fellowship outings have involved golf tournaments, “Manly” movies, games and getting together to watch sporting events. All men are welcome. Your ideas are encouraged and needed. Please come and share them with us.
Women’s Friendship Circle: The mission of the Women’s Friendship Circle (WFC) of St. Andrew’s is to provide a place where women can connect with other women in fellowship, friendship and support. We are all so busy with home, work, families and our other St. Andrew’s Ministries. We enjoy the chance to sit, chat and just get to know each other. The WFC is open to all women. Monthly events provide the opportunity to develop friendships and to grow.
