St. Andrew’s has adopted Burks Elementary, an east McKinney Title 1 school on the edge of the historic district. Burks has 450 students, almost 70% of whom meet at-risk guidelines. We are committed to walk beside the children and staff of Burks Elementary, helping them live their vision- “I believe I can and I will dream big and achieve more!” The members of St. Andrews support Burks with multiple programs and volunteer efforts including:

St. Andrew's outreach programs focus on our community by participating in programs such as Adopt-a-School and Clothe-a-Child, and we have also participated in international outreach missions. Locally, we've adopted Burks Elementary in McKinney, helping with school supplies, clothing, medicines, and meal assistance. International missions have included helping communities in Belize and Honduras with medical supplies, light but vital construction, and Christian education. Our Outreach Committee prioritizes, funds, and selects projects in which St. Andrew’s will participate, in the local community and in far away places.

In 2011, members of St. Andrew’ Episcopal Church participated in adult mission trips to both Belize and Honduras rural communities. The purpose of these mission trips ranged from assisting these local communities in Christian education programs… to assisting with medical needs …. To provide manpower for building libraries, installing and repairing and painting buildings and playgrounds. Two Dallas-area Episcopal churches, Church of the Incarnation and Transfiguration Episcopal, were our sponsoring partners in these missions. Interested? St. Andrews is currently in the planning stages of another international mission trip. Our youth group has also been on a mission trip to Galveston to help with hurricane relief and to an Indian Reservation in Oklahoma to help with a Childrens mission.
Belize Mission Trip- November 1st-6th
Each week in worship at St. Andrew’s you’ll find a box marked “Dollar Makes a Difference.” Dollar offerings to this box are used for Outreach programs at St. Andrew’s. The funds are used 100% to help those in need. ‘Dollar Makes a Difference’ grants are available. If a member knows of a friend, neighbor, co-worker, or another church member who might need financial assistance, they can refer them for a grant. Dollar by dollar, family by family, bit by bit, we are serving Christ in our community!
Matthew’s Fund is a St. Andrew’s program which oversees member-donated funds to help school nurses and teachers all over McKinney ISD purchase medicine for school children. Through a standing account in a local pharmacy, children have received anti-seizure medication, diabetes medication, and other vital medicines. Look for the little red box on the altar to contribute, and watch members donate to Matthew’s Fund following their birthday and anniversary blessings.
