Our Commitment to Serve our Neighbors

Dear Friends,

As I write this, the smells of onions, garlic, and ground meat are wafting down the hall. It’s the meatloaf that our volunteers have prepared for the homeless census tonight and it smells delicious. Tonight, more St. Andrew’s people will serve that meatloaf (and green beans and fries) to the unhoused as well as the volunteers at the Salvation Army. Before that happens though, we’ll have the end-of-the-month pizza party at C.L.I.M.B. after-school program at Merritt Homes.

Also this week: we bagged snacks, diapers, detergent pods and dryers sheets for distribution through the McKinney Little Free Pantry on Wednesday, and we still have our monthly food distribution on Saturday morning.

This week is probably slightly above average, but it’s not abnormal. We really are serious about being Christ’s Hands and Feet in our community. The church of which you are a part and that you support by your generosity is out in the world trying to care for God’s people. And even if you aren’t physically able to be a part these events, you’re a part of that work by being a part of St. Andrew’s.

That’s one of the beautiful gifts of church — the way that we can give of different things — time, talent, and treasure — to live out our commitment to serve our neighbors together. Thank you for being a part of St. Andrew’s and all we do!

In Christ,
Fr. Andrew
